The state of Virginia is back at it again [after their first quarrel with Maryland], this time taking on The Tar Heel State – North Carolina! Virginia’s neighbor directly to the south, the great state of NC, will be quite the match-up: they are ranked 5th in the Solar Energy Industry Association’s (SEIA) ‘Top Ten Solar States’ [expected to move up to #4 in 2013] and are home to over 21,000 residences that have implemented solar power into their everyday lives.

Virginia, while no solar slouch either, runs mid-pack in the solar rankings: employing 740 individuals within the Virginia solar energy industry, home to 110+ solar companies, have a net metering policy grade of “C” and boast a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Target of 15% by 2025.
