Charitable Programs We Support

The success of Renewable Energy Corporation has been built on both excellence and charity. We are not just about being the best in the solar service business, we are also committed in giving back to the community. Over the years we have helped others in need within our community and abroad.

Here are some of the charities we support

Founded in 1967, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest independent conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Bay. Serving as a watchdog, this organization fights for effective, science-based solutions to the pollution degrading the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams. Its motto, “Save the Bay,” is a regional rallying cry for pollution reduction throughout the Chesapeake’s six-state, 64,000-square-mile watershed, which is home to more than 17 million people and 3,000 species of plants and animals.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Henry Bergh founded the organization in 1866 based on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend its anti-cruelty mission across the country, it is recognized as a national animal welfare organization. The ASPCA is a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.

Heifer International empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity, but its approach is about more than just giving them a handout. Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Its animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. It funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a nonprofit donor-supported organization dedicated to attacking cystic fibrosis from every angle. Its focus is to support the development of new drugs to fight the disease, improve the quality of life for those with CF, and ultimately to find a cure. The Foundation’s drug development model has been recognized by Harvard Business School and by publications such as Forbes, The New Yorker, and Bloomberg Businessweek. Based in Bethesda, MD, the Foundation funds and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of the most efficient organizations of its kind and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance.

Compassion International is a Christian child development organization dedicated to releasing children from poverty. Its ministry is twofold: Compassion International works through local churches to provide child development programs to deliver children from economic, physical, social and spiritual poverty, enabling them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. And the organization speaks out for children in poverty — informing, motivating and equipping others to become advocates for children.

Twenty years ago, the Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) was commissioned as a cooperative coalition of multiple partners that contribute to a large-scale restoration program to plant disease-free oysters back into the Chesapeake Bay. As a result, nearly 5.8 billion oysters have been planted on 2,200 acres of oyster reefs and 66,000 bushels of shell have been recycled to provide homes for new oysters. As Maryland, DC’s leading nonprofit restoring oysters in the Bay, the ORP also operates the region’s Shell Recycling Alliance, supports the state’s Maryland, DCers Grow Oysters program and provides shellfish aquaculture and fishery support services. ORP is involved in oyster restoration projects throughout the Chesapeake Bay.
